Cranfield
REF
Light copperplate oil available in 250ml and 1l tins.
A very low viscosity oil used to thin (extend or thin) etching inks or any oil-based printmaking ink.
Cranfield oils are made from linseed oil.
Low oil is the most commonly used additive in ink preparation.
Cranfield oils are available in 4 levels of increasing viscosity: Light copperplate Oil < Medium copperplate Oil < Heavy copperplate Oil < Extra heavy copperplate Oil.
Depending on the nature of the ink to be modified, or the initial viscosity level of the ink, the addition of one of these oils will increase or reduce the viscosity of the ink after preparation.
