High viscosity oil used to modify etching inks or any oil-based printmaking ink.

The high viscosity of this oil will increase the tackiness of an ink that is considered too weak.

Cranfield oils are made from linseed oil and are available in 4 levels of increasing viscosity: Light copperplate Oil < Medium copperplate Oil < Heavy copperplate Oil < Extra heavy copperplate Oil.
Depending on the nature of the ink to be modified, or the initial viscosity of the ink, the addition of one of these oils will increase or reduce the viscosity of the ink after preparation.
