For preparing Edinburgh etch solution, a recipe with iron chloride and citric acid for etching copper.
The resulting etch will be faster
No deposits on the plate. Plates can even be etched face-up in a tray.
Recipe:
Dissolve 65g of citric acid in 200ml of water and add to 1 litre of iron chloride of 40% (43°Bé)
For the copper deoxidisation solution:
Dissolve 60g (4 tablespoons) in 1 litre of water.
Apply the solution using a soft cloth or piece of cotton wool (especially after degreasing with Meudon white) then rinse with water.
