Lightweight, precise, and featuring a patented technical invention
Patented technical invention
The Jan Forrer intaglio press was designed by Jan himself, drawing on his years of practical experience. His goal was to create a lightweight press with the same capacity as a traditional cast-iron model.
- A patented invention in the Netherlands makes this press unique: the lower roller is supported by a system of seven plain bearings in pearlitic cast iron.
- This clever mechanism provides a 1:7 transmission ratio without the usual systems (chains, gears, or gearboxes).
- It eliminates deflection of the roller under pressure, ensuring sharper impressions and precise registration.
Design & durability
- Upper roller: seamless boiler tube, 10 mm thick wall, mounted on needle bearings for smooth rotation under heavy pressure.
- Adjustable pressure system: sliding half-bearings + stack of compression boards, allowing slight pressure release during the plate’s passage.
- 117 cm spoked wheel, elegant and instantly recognizable, with 6 wooden spokes.
Versatility
The Forrer press is also suitable for letterpress or relief printing, thanks to two rails (25 mm) supplied with the machine and screwed onto the bed.
Key advantages
- Lightweight: only ~75 kg for the 600 mm model.
- Perfect stability: no bending thanks to the patented system.
- Outstanding print quality: sharpness, precision, and reliable registration.
- Available sizes: 600 mm and 800 mm.
- Convenient: integrated storage shelves in the stand.
- Versatile: suitable for intaglio, letterpress, and relief printing.
