Woodzilla item: Printmaking baren (spherical disc) & Printmaking baren (flat disc)
A baren for printmaking is a tool that is traditionally used in Japanese woodblock printing to apply even pressure to the block.
It is also a perfect tool for your linocuts and rubber stamps.
This baren are made out of beech wood.
The spherical disc allows the baren to slide over the paper to be printed without the risk of damaging it. It is particularly recommended for printing on relatively heavy paper (over 100g/m²).
The flat disc is ideal for light paper.
The baren is easy and comfortable to hold because of the shaped grip.
The wood is finished with a single layer of linseed oil, to make it easier to clean and to prevent from ink soaking into the wood.
